Was there a TSB issued? It looked like 5W-30 on the 2000 Owners' Manual to me.

i dunno but the indow sticker on my 99 said 28 mpg highway and the window sticker from a 2000 SVT said 29 and we atributed that to the oil, because if the vehicles are more fuel efficient then you can have more suvs
manufacturers need to have a balance to sell suvs, they need to sell so many emissions friendly cars to off set the non friendly cars, so that is why we have the focus, and to also get people into the brand so that down the road they will buy the suv or lincoln because that is where they actually make money

10w-40
all year round. I have been using it since I bought my car with only 3 miles on it. It has 70,000 and still runs like the day I drove it off the lot! The key is keeping up with the oil changes!

As long as a light duty oil is used (0,5, or 10W - 20,30, or 40) that is appropriate for your local wheather, the Zetec will do alright. Just make sure its synthetic. I use to run 5W-30 year round. All my oil analysis results have come back looking great regardless of oil weight (always used Mobil 1).

Been using 5W30 Mobil 1 for over a 100k miles. Repeated over redline driving (7000-7500).....still runs good.

Been using Motorcraft 5w-30 all year round since I got the car. Speaking of which, I am about due for a change.
