No, you will have it beat if it's a 2.0 4 cyl with teh auto. If it's the 2.0 4 cyl with a manual, it would be a bit tight. If she's rockin' the Turbo Bug, she will own you there, back, at your wedding, at your kids first birthday party, at your retirement party, and through out enternity.

if you close your eyes to not see the happy shape of the car, a 1.8t (180hp version) beetle is REALLY exiting to drive, its handle pretty well and the performance are there (when new, cause the turbo losing lot of guts when getting older). really like my driving experience of with.

I agree with ya on that, i test drove a 1.8T Beetle (like an 03 or something) when I bought my 01 Jetta, and besides that stupid vase starring at you, it is a very fun car to drive with manual trans. VERY quick, handles amazing.

..I think I just lost some man points for posting this.

You guys are right about it screaming above the 4K line and not really picking up any speed!

There are a lot of performance parts for those cars, being that it shares the platform witht he Audi TT, I know you can swap a lot of parts over to the Bug. They are a unique car and the twin turbo'd VR6 awd versions that a company in CA is building are amazing. Man it would be sweet to walk a ferrari in a Beetle!

Oh God, the performance parts for the VW's is almost never ending, adn the motors tkae WELL to mods. If your firend puts a chip on her V-dub Beetle, she'd possibly put you to shame.

If it's not too late, put it in writing. That's what I did, so if there is a problem, you've got it on paper, not just what someone said they'd do. It's great to help out a friend, but money changes people.

The audi/VW 2.7L twin turbo of the S4 is not a VR6 engine which is a 2.8L. and the new beetle RSi dont have twin turbo, its got a 3.2L with AWD

You have to have man points to start with before you can lose any. There are no "negative values" in that matter.

I have a 2.0L in my Jetta. Same engine. It makes what little power it does between 2500 and 4000 or so, and then it just makes noise. I've tried deftly to get the tires to chirp on a 1-2 upshift to no avail. The car seems to work well once speeds pick up, such as from 60 to 100 or so.
Mine being an MTX, even though it doesn't have a lot of juice, I still find it fun.

Thank God I have the Jetta though and not a Bettle. Sometimes I think of the Beetle Turbo as a less extreme version of the Neon SRT4: What would be a masculine, entertaining, powerful car were it not wrapped in Tiffany styling.

Suck it Trebec!

Everything you said about the 2.0 is completly correct. However, I was able to chirp the tires in 2nd in an 04 2.0 MTX Golf Rental car .

It may be slow, but DAMN is it a good motor. Takes well to nice size turbo, or giddy-up juice.
