Hey Guys,
I have found a mechanic to do my 3.0L swap. He is suggesting I get the 3.0L short block conversion kit from shoshop.com. I've heard a few nasty things about this site.

Anybody have any solid info. about these guys or want to let me know what I should do before I waste $3200.00 CND + Freight + Installation + who knows what else.

Melissa, I told you were to go, and these guys are gonna tell you the same thing. www.arizonadynochip.com -> Buckshot motors. 1800 for a prepped short block. IMO, a bit steep in price, but for your situation I think its the perfect remedy.

SHO Shop is a complete headache when dealing with them. You pay them, they get you your part(s) whenever they get around to it (maybe 6 months or so). Trust me, stay away from them.

Get it from ADC www.arizonadynochip.com . SHO Shop has no customer service if they even still produce these. They are also double the price.

$3200 CDN? WTF? I got my full 04 Escape motor for ~$1000 CAD and it only had 50miles on it. For that price I had my engine, heads, and pistons. To be honest, depending on what swap you are doing, you don't even need to do much prep work other than checking the state of whatever motor you have.

There are plenty of 3.0L convertees in Ontario now so don't be a stranger.

You can get an entire low mileage 3L for $500-600 US.

Stay FAR away from SLOSlop and yes even the ADC price is stupid expensive!

I got my 3L with only 7000kms on it from Standard Auto for $750.
Mikes Auto parts in HAmilton has one listed for $1000.

THere are plenty of Ontarians who could assist your mechanic with the details.

stay away from the Shmo Shop! i live 50 miles from there and is STILL took weeks to get my parts, which he had in stock!

fwiw, he gave me excellent service/communication right up until I paid for the parts. he returned my phone calls in a timely fashion until I paid for the parts. after that, it was like trying to get a hold of in-laws who owe you money.

it sounds like you have some local cegers to help you and definitely go with the ADC motor if you have no other options. (but waay costly). with as long as its taking to get my motor going, i almost wish i would have just forked out the cash to ADC.
