Well a buddy of mine just decided to give me his 96 Contour. So I decided to join another forum =).

1.I Know the motor is a 4 cylinder but I'm not sure what size it is. Did they only put 2.0 Zetec's in 96's? or are there any other size 4 cylinder engines? I will be picking the car up sunday and my buddy doesn't know anything about cars.

2. The Water pump!! The reason he is giving me the car is the water pump is shot and the shop he took it to was going to charge him $700.00 to replace it. He is moving to Florida in 5 weeks and was going to junk it. He had the timing belt replaced about 10,000 miles ago, if it does need to come off do I need to get a new belt or should I be ok to put the old one back on?

Once the mount is off and the motor is jacked up does it make things a lot easier to acess or is it still crampy in there?
I will be doing the job outdoors and the forecast calls for rain for the next 5 days =\ But I always do my best work in the worst weather so i guess its a good sign =)
I will be back with more dumb questions soon. Thanks in advance.
Chris

You can use the old one.

Just follow the haynes manual or.... you have a PM.

It's fairly easy access as far as inline engines go in FWD cars.

Where do you live?

Yes, all the I4's are 2.0 L.

And I think you'll have to take off the timing belt to get at the water pump. Somewhere there's a Zetec timing belt how-to on this site that'll help you get it off and get the timing aligned properly when you put it back together.

Have fun.
