Anyways, I put this aside while I cleane dup the heads and had some work done to them. I figured I'd tackle this again another day and it might be nicer. That new day has come, and the damn thing still doesn't want to budge. I tried using an impact at 135psi, tried drilling a hole through the center of the bolt to maybe relieve some stress on the threads, tried using a 2 ft breaker bar witha 3 ft pipe on the end of it, STILL WON'T BUDGE!! I also tried grinding it for a while, and yea, that time consuming as all hell. Any ideas on getting it off?I'm really frustrated and this is the 1 thing that is holding up my entire project. Pics to follow...

Uh oh you started grinding. Not good. Honestly get the most leverage you can and have 2 ppl start undoing it. You are going lefty loosey right?

Yes, left. Tried the whole leverage thing. Myself and another guy keeping the block steady and my buddy "big ryan" on the breaker bar trying to get it loose. (he's 6'7" 340lbs) and that didn't work.

Thats Dumb (left I mean).
The Taurus dampers have a Right Hand thread to loosen the damper bolt cover (you obviously cut the extender shaft off). Then the inside damper retaining bolt is left hand thread.
Get a pipe wrench on that thing and pull on it while someone locks up the flywheel. Get a big pipewrench!
Worse case take a die grinder and notch the edge of the damper where the bolt cover threads into the center. cut it like a piece of pie and it will then release the friction and come out easy. Don't go more than say 3/8" deep so you stay away from the crank. This won't hurt the crank as long as you don't cut into it.

Geez Tom is correct. Didn't realize what I was looking at even though it was in the 3L section. You want to clockwise.

Technically, I have tried it both ways.

I was tired and cranky then. Sorry.
Yeah, just cut a section out of that hub with the die grinder cutting wheel. Should take about 5-10 minutes total and then it will screw right out. Otherwise, the pipe wrench and big cheater bar. Personnally I'd cut it as that is the least stressfull option on the crank. If you had a really good impact then that is the best but uhhh looking at shaft I doubt it would fit now.

Yikes!! Ain't that a beeeeyotch. the grinder is denifetly the way to go, just take your time and try to keep your patience. Just remind yourself that this is a character building expierence. You can talk about it with your friends when your driving around in your finished project. "remember that damn pulley bolt!" lol
Good Luck!

haha, yes...everytime im having a bad day ill look back and say "there has been worse". Suprisingly a socket still fits on the bolt. I think the cut-off is gonna get its shot! Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give that a try tomorrow and hopefully, and finally it will be out.
