HaHaHa, this is funny! You guy's really believe that you can outrun a AWD turbocharged DSM? Think maybe you stand a chance against a FWD turbocharged DSM? Do you really believe that or are you just kidding around?

I cant see him winning by more than a car length or two.

Did I miss something? 14.4 @ 91? Heck, I run 93 MPH trap speeds nearly a full second slower than that guy and my car falls on its face at ~5000 RPM. (Not for too much longer, though.) Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but it sounds to me like that guy can't drive and that lack of ability is compensated for by the AWD.
Besides, street racing stories are like fish stories. There are 3 versions: his, his opponent's, and the truth. Didn't everyone hear? I smoked this Ferrari on the way home from Kalamazoo today. He was parked in Chicago, but I had him by at least 2 bus lengths.

I agree. He must be a shatty driver. My car runs 4-5 mph faster than his in the traps, and I was running 15.1's (bad clutch = 2.6 sixty foot times ). I'd be careful though. That time in his sig could be old as piss. 14.4 is God awful slow for his mods. He could be sandbagging too....

The #'s he is posting are not real, If they are indeed real he is a bad driver. I know this because I own a 1'st gen. DSM turbo and I know what it will and can do. Guy's I love my SVT Contour however it will not, it has not and it can not out run my DSM. I'm sorry but that is just the truth plain and simple. I'm really not trying to piss you guy's off, but as I said earlier I love the SVT but it aint no turbo DSM killer! I know the truth and I'm comfortable with that.

DSM guys need to check the old "Best Handling Car under 30K" comparison in C&D (about 11/97 IIRC). E0 SVT and 210HP turbo/AWD Eclipse were 2 of the contenders. The SVT beat the Eclipse in the battery of handling tests and equaled its time on the "Streets of Willow racetrack". That was an E0 which lacked E1 suspension, tire and power upgrades... So , who gives a crap about 1/4 mile times

Driver error can make a fast car seem slow. And a merely quick car that much worse. I have beaten a Talon TSI AWD before. I got toasted at the start and came back and passed him. I beat the driver, not the car. This was of course stock versus stock. I hate to be a bench racer but it can be a helpful tool. Comparing a stock Eclipse GSX #s with a stock 99 SVT, our cars get smoked off the line but by 100mph we are a second ahead. By 120mph its absurd.
C&D 4/99 12/92 CSVT Eclipse GSX 0-60 6.9 0-60 6.4 0-100 19.1 0-100 20.5 0-120 33.1 0-120 41.5

It's not impossible to win. -R- Ok, Calc. problem. At what point after the start are these two vehicles at the same point again? (We are assuming the Eclipse jumps out front, but the Contour can catch him. It is not the same time as when your speed is higher since you have to make up the ground you lost, it will be later, but when? Show work and explain your assumptions since we don't have a lot of data points showing the rate of acceleration TB

0-60 in 6.4? That mus be a very light and easy launch. Most AWD DSM's pull sub 6 second 0-60 as well as 1.8-2.0 60' times.
