I was checking out the new 7 series BMW's the other day and noticed they have some white LED's that shine under the outside door handles. They illuminates them so you can see where your hand is supposed to go at night :p Anyway, I got to looking at the handles a little while ago and it looks like some LED's can be mounted on the inside of our handles. They would turn on when the interior lights come on, like when you disarm the alarm.
Is anybody interested in something like this? How much would you be willing to pay for something like this?

Guy at a local car stereo shop has this as part of his alarm install, he has blue LED's to match his blue warning LED on the dash. Are you talking about making complete door handles for a swap out, or just a LED "kit" that you would mount on your door. I would be interested in finding out more for a DIY project, but I would rather do anything myself than pay someone else...

It would be a kit that you could use to just modify the existing door handles. Much cheaper than getting new door handles.
I might just show people how to do it instead of making a kit. Who knows, this is just going to be another mini-project for me in the future.

Hey,Spanking of LEDs,I saw a 300ZX last night sitting in a parking lot,It had those blue Winshield washer LED nozzels, anywho they had them hooked up tp flash as the alarm LED. Took me at first then I realized what it was, there flashing blue at all the cars that drove by. It wasnt a bad idea.Just WAY to BRIGHT!

Hey Chris, what I am wanting to do is put a light or Group of LEDs under the side view mirrors, like on the Explorers,so that when yuo dis-arm the alarm they come on and illuminate the whole ground beside the door. A guy a work has this on his Explore, neat. Last I saw them was on a VOLVO.

Chris, You are the man! BTW my clock looks really good. I for one, would be very interested in door handle lights. Like the other guy said anything you can do to give our cars just a little bit of a nicer touch is cool Count me in. J Fish
I know the SVT is a bad A$$ car, but you don't have to follow me home just to tell me.

Well, since there are occasional pauses in the turbo work, I will be ordering some nice white LED's soon. Now that I have had some closer looks at what it might take, I think I'll just show people how to do it, and where to get the LED's from. We'll see soon enough. Man, I love LED's!
