Yes the same company makes filters at both ends of the spectrum.

Their "Champ" department (at least what they were called a few years ago???) makes el-budget, cheapo filters. Just like the examples I gave. (some more: Walmart filter, Deutsch, etc)

Bosch & STP (a "Champ" too btw) make the list of poor quality filters as well.

Also for the record: Pennzoil, Quaker State (same company), and Valvoline are all FRAM filters. FRAM Sucks!


Good filter brands:
Mobil 1/K&N (same filter, different case), Motorcraft (Purolator), AC Delco, Hard Driver (not made for our car anymore), AMSOil (suspect flow rating???), Purolator, & Wix (NAPA is a Wix)

Of those I'd recommend what I always do. Motorcraft or Mobil 1/K&N.

The FL-1A is definitely a Pure One as well. I don't know about the rest.
