Well it seems everything is working fine now but I'm still not sure what the problem was. Here's what I did:
-- Left the throttle valve wedged open ~24 hours.
-- Removed throttle body and checked gasket installation, reinstalled. Was worried I put gasket on backwards and blocked the air bypass channel for the IAC. Har. I didn't.
-- Pushed some more on the IAC connector (with no apparent movement).
-- Turned engine on with the entire air box/intake duct/plenum removed (so no MAF or IAT sensor). Started fine, idled fine (considering no MAF), CELs of cours.e
-- Put everything back on, started fine and idled fine. No CELS. Test drive ~10 minutes, no problems.
So maybe it was just not happy about ingesting so much cleaning spray. Next time I clean the TB I'll just take it off, it's only 4 screws, and then you can avoid sprayign the solvent and the gunk you've washed off into the manifold.
Planning to also adjust the throttle cable, maybe it got out of whack when I took off the TB first time and got back into whack when I took it off the second time. I never disconnected the cable, jjust removed the TB from manifold with the cable bracket still mounted.
Should I check the plugs since it was running crappy for a while presuming it was choking on solvent?
