I walked in to the shop and told the guy what everyone else was saying "its the water pump" so i said "forget everything eles and rip it apart and tell me they're wrong". And low and behold the CEG gurus were spot on yet again.
i guess i owe someone a pizza!
thanks!
With what you paid, you should just worry about buying yourself a pizza.
I wish I had the money you have to just "throw" around at a Contour!!
Did he tell you why it cost $400 bucks? I mean, how much shop time did he bill you? It's like 6 bolts that hold the thing in...How much did he charge you for the part? I'd be asking some serious questions...

Yet another sucker. $400! Christ! A WP is $70. Nice $330 in labor. Oh and coolant is $5. Just to put this in perspective. I'm charging a guy $450 to put a new clutch in! I'm not a shop but still. I'm doing about 75% of an engine removal!

If you wish to see the bill. Page 1and Page 2I don't realy care what you say about me doing the work myself, im just too busy, and sorry if it makes you envious that i could throw 400 bucks at my car and not care. Truth is i don't have 400 bucks to throw at it but it had to be done and i didn't care what it cost, i need my car to get to work, and i couldn't stand borrowing my mother-inlaws 91 taurus any longer, 3 days was enough. Plus i couldn't stand seeing the boy racers flying around and me being unable to catch them.

1. Nobody here is envious of someone choosing to spend $400 on something that costs $75.
2. Further substantiates #1. you didn't have it, why spend it on something that costs $75 and 30 minutes of time? (okay, okay.. add another 10-15 minutes for a thermostat..)
3 DAYS? Christ.. I'll change it for you in 30 minutes and you can pay me 120 times that same $400. (60 hours, times 30 minutes of work is 120.) (since time is money to you... 3 days for $400, I mean, SHEESH)
ENABLE yourself... through this site, and your own motivation to save money AND time. I could see $400 being worth it is you knew it would take you three times as long...)
In the end, hey.. you got your money's worth, I guess. Now.. go enjoy your car. I'll do the same.. and buy myself a burger/fries with the $325 I saved doing it myself. Priorities, man.. You certainly chose yours.
