odd, none of my shingles have melted off my roof yet, and i'm willing to bet that it gets just as hot, or hotter, up there than it does in your car doors.
Interesting...I wonder how hot it WOULD have to get to melt the shingles off your roof? Especially considering the fact that they are nailed down... 
hey, if they melt, nails aren't going to help, are they?

fact is, 99.99999% of the time asphalt mat fails, it's installation error, as most people are either too lazy or too stupid to prep and install it right. perhaps your brother should have used nails in his install.
