Well, I know of two people, and have read of multiple others who have had asphalt based products melt and/or fall off. Perhaps we are talking about two different things. I agree that all the products perform the same basic function of adding mass to reduce resonance...however, they do NOT all perform the same basic function of sticking to the flippin door! So I suppose your original statement isn't completely true.

Wow, what a revelation. I have little to add since you put it so succinctly. Not only are they not all the same, they also look different, too. Pretty amazing [censored].

No need to be condescending. We can have a discussion without that.

That's unfortunate. Given time, I could probably find 50000 people who have not had issues. I have read about 2-3 people having issues with it. I suppose it should be noted in future discussions that BradJs brother had an issue.

Well, I thought it fitting to share my personal experiences since you seemed to base your comments on the same type of experience. Given time, I too could find many people, besides my brother, who have had asphalt based products fail on them.

Please. Almost all sound deadening materials currently available previously existed on the market as something other than a properly engineered acoustical "damnening" (damping) material.

Pardon the typo, but dampening is the term, not damping. We're not talking about moisture.

Besdides, does that make the previously existing products just as effective as the current ones? Hardly. You could say the same statement about nearly any consumer product on the market. All products evolve and improve. Call eD and ask them what the difference is between eDead v1SE and v1SE^2. Asphalt vs. Butyl. I'll opt for the improved product, thanks.

Brownbread, afaik, isn't particularly cheap compared to some others. I just stated it has been used by many people without any problems. There will be scenarios where each materials may not be appropriate and obviously 92 degree days in Seattle spell doom for brownbread.

Well, we could go back and forth dissecting each others posts debating this, but I prefer not to.

I'm not denying that people have used BrownBead with great results. I know they have. People have used Peel & Seal roofing crap from Home Depot with fine results!

I just wanted to make people aware of the fact that asphalt based products can fail at higher temperatures. Why do you think Ben went to a Butyl based product for eDead v1SE^2??? Because people were having problems with v1 and v1SE! The customers demanded it! Call him and ask for yourselves...
