You mentioned that the noise happens in park. If that is true the vss would not be turning thus no noise. The TSS can be reached under the drivers side wheel well where you checked the case for noise. You should see a wire going to the sensor there. It is on back of the oil pump facing in your driver's side wheel well. I am assuming that the noise changes with engine speed, If so the books states:
Torque Converter Componenets
Fluid Level low pump caviatation
Oil Pump Assembly
Engine Drive Accessories
(Like belt, pulley tensioner, etc worth a check)!!!
Oil Cooler Tubes grounding out
Flywheel
Inspection cover ( bottom of trans under car, is it bent, etc)
Bob
