You say that it is louder on the driver's side. It sounds like your atx oil pump. Do this, take a long screwdriver and place it on the end of the atx that shows under the drivers side wheel well. Have someone start up the car and while it is making this noise, please it against the end of the atx and up to your ear. If it is the oil pump going out, you should hear the noise very strongly.


I would check the vss gear and see if that looks fine. I don't think this would be it but you need to check it.


Just reread your earlier posts....

Since the whine is in all gears and park, I wouldn't bother with checking the vss.

I suspect, oil pump, torque converter and or atx bearings....

In all cases you will need a rebuild. In my book, I think it is simpler to pull engine and atx as one unit instead of trying to pull just the atx.....

With the overdrive led flashing, you should be getting some codes while the engine is running, can you get these? This would narrow things down abit.
