Tell me it is simple to change belt!

I hope I do not have to un-bolt engine mounting brackets!

I once had to change the serpentine belt

Maryland is the worst for inspections, in two ways.

First, it's the most ridiculously strict inspection I've ever seen. I personally had a car flunk for: a few drops of condensation in the headlight lens, a burned-out foglight (it's perfectly fine to not have foglights at all, but if you do and one's burnt out, that's unsafe! ), a few hairline cracks in the serpentine belt, and a loose headlight switch knob. It wasn't broken, it wasn't falling off, it was *loose*. And I took it to a place that had a reputation for being lenient! My dad had a car flunk because the seatback had about 1/4" of free play.

Now what makes this even more ridiculous is that inspections are only done when the car changes hands. Once it passes that initial inspection, you're free and clear to run your tires down to the cords, wear the brake pads down to the backing plates, and drive around with burned out brake lights. It's basically a scheme to make mechanics a bunch of money, while doing essentially nothing in the way of keeping cars in safe condition.

I had a gate guard get on me for having one burned out. I was like "uhh.. ok."

I haven't yet had to get a car inspected... maybe that'll change in Germany, but I dunno. When I get back to the states from there, I'll just register it in Iowa (no inspection).

You decide. Read this thread. No, you do not have to un-bolt engine mounting brackets.

no inspection here unless if you remove the licence plate on the car for more than 1 year or if you by it from a different province or from US
