You are making things 100% harder then they are.
If you have a 95 PCM & harnesses then you HAVE to run a vacuum operated LIM. (however it sounds like it's definitely a 96+)
If your have a 96+ PCM, OBD-II, IMRC equipped, cable driven LIM then you HAVE to run EVERYTHING I just listed.
It is as blatantly simple as that!
It certainly sounds like some complete idiot put the entire 95 2.5L engine in your 96. That means you are going to have to buy both an IMRC and a 96+ LIM because from what you described they were not smart enough to transfer those over to the 95 engine.
Oh yeah. You'll probably need a 96+ front valve cover as well. (i.e. where the IMRC bolts on)
So that will be roughly a couple hundred bucks (parts only) to fix their screw up. With that said the 95's had the bad timing components as well so them chosing a 95 engine was just infinitely stupid.
