You decide.

You are making things 100% harder then they are.

If you have a 95 PCM & harnesses then you HAVE to run a vacuum operated LIM. (however it sounds like it's definitely a 96+)

If your have a 96+ PCM, OBD-II, IMRC equipped, cable driven LIM then you HAVE to run EVERYTHING I just listed.

It is as blatantly simple as that!

It certainly sounds like some complete idiot put the entire 95 2.5L engine in your 96. That means you are going to have to buy both an IMRC and a 96+ LIM because from what you described they were not smart enough to transfer those over to the 95 engine.

Oh yeah. You'll probably need a 96+ front valve cover as well. (i.e. where the IMRC bolts on)

So that will be roughly a couple hundred bucks (parts only) to fix their screw up. With that said the 95's had the bad timing components as well so them chosing a 95 engine was just infinitely stupid.

Or save yourself some money, skip the 96 front valve cover, and relocate your mew IMRC controller to somewhere other than the original, heat-catching, IMRC frying location.

I was Intentionally leaving out ANYTHING that deviated from 100% OEM because all it would lead to is more questions like his first ones.

There are a lot of things he "could" do but since he could not figure out this simple situation I felt that suggesting changes and/or modifications on top of it was adding insult to injury.

I'm sorry i had a few questions. I'm new to the 2.5L and have no idea what this guy before me tried to do. i have a mixmatch of parts on this engine as I have found 3 different date codes on various parts of the engine, and am just trying to make heads or tails of what I need. I'm sorry for asking so many questions.

Its frustrating.. for you (because you don't know what you were dealt) and for the helpers.. well.. because you don't know what you were dealt.

No biggies.. you're learning.

The thing thats really frustrating is that I am the one who recommended my brother to look at the ceg classifieds to find a tour. Unfortunately there are people who sell cars with falsified information, for example when my brother asked him if he changed the water pump. (I told him that the 2.5 l has a problem) He said yes, but only a few months after my brother had the car the water pump that was stamped 1994 had a broken impeller, along with the newly replaced brakes going out after 5,000 miles.

Anyone looking for a car in the classifieds makes sure to get the thing inspected before you buy so you wont have the same mishap.

I hope this guy is not a member of CEG.

WP:$70, Brakes: $130. It sucks but if that's all that was wrong with the car be happy. At least the engine didn't take a dump or something else major.
