The second kit is the best thing that has happened to me in weeks! The front bumper! The sweet hood! I love that car! And those headlights, well, you get the idea. Although I'm a poor college student, I'll gladly take off a semester or two and spend my tuition on that kit. I want to help make this happen. If you guys can get these kits made, I will definately buy one.

Once again, the members of the Contour Enthusiast Group (CEG) have expressed interest in having body kits made for our cars. There are companies I have talk to who are willing to produce the kits, however a major stepping stone for us is all of the interested compainies are located in Europe. We will have to send them a complete car to work off of which is somewhat unreasonable given the costs involved. However, we are working on a plan to gather the money to buy a wrecked car and ship it to England where I will contact a company to have the kit made. Wings West could offer us the same plan, however your facility is more conveniently located for our North America. Our plan is to create a group buy for the kit (design ideas would have to be submitted and reviewed naturally) once a design has been agreed upon. In the past we have successfully had group buys the Mirko spoiler for the SVT Contour and are currently producing a bodykit for the first gerneation Contours. Our members are eager to submit ideas, suggestions, and purchase a kit. Is Wings West interested in following up on our interest? FYI: Here is a link to one of threads discussing bodykits and some pictures should you choose to view it. Mondeo Body Kits on CEG Forums Best Regards, xxxxxxxxx

What a sad state of affairs the United States and Canada must be in if the only way a kit can be made is by sending a car overseas. Sad, sad, sad indeed. There's been talk and talk and more talk since these forums were created (see my member #) of making a body kit available. Now I see that we are going to send a car to the UK?
FWIW, Ghost and others, here is my thinking. All of us non-SVT drivers all want our cars to have a non-Hertz-rental appearance. That's what drives the whole body-kit campain. Without a doubt, the SVT has a look to it that you don't see everyday and for the most part, damn near everyone likes the way it looks. The parts are readily available- couple of days to 1-2 weeks depending on where you live. They have the exact fit we are needing. If there is a problem, simply send it back. The SVT parts are tried and true and are proven. So what does everyone say about adding the SVT nose, rear, and side skirts to their GL, LX, and SE? Number one answer: They are too expensive..... OK, I am fine with that. But its readily available, so you can dramatically change the whole appearance of your car in one weekend (or, in my case, a couple of hours total) by doing the SVT look-alike.
I'd like to see a show of hands, or better yet, user names of those of you who have bought and installed the SVT nose, rear, and side skirts. That will give you an idea of who is serious about dropping a couple bucks into their car. Buy the SVT kit now, and if/when someone makes a kit, sell your SVT parts to someone else. You might even make money when its all done and over with. The whole "live for today" philosophy.
FWIW DAvid 98 SE Sport V6 ATX, hers oh yes, SVT nose, skirt, and rear with exhaust. and tons of other mods....

personally, the svt kit is nice but i dont like it enough to drop 2k with paint on one, but i do have the money and would gladly spend it on something different, fresh, and agressive.

And that is the point of this exercise. Enough people have brought up the subject to let it be known that we want something DIFFERENT for our cars. We'd gladly buy an ST200 kit if it would fit! Anything besides that drab ol' job that Ford did for the SVT. I mean the kit looks better than my non-SVT, but they could have done a lot better.
When someone makes a kit that people can agree on, they'll make a fortune from us. But if companies can only fart around and say "we'll make you a kit if..." then by the time someone takes the initative no one will own a Contour anymore.
It's either now or never for the kit builders to make some money off of us. It's really up to them to do something and for us to decide what we want.

Right now I'd be a happy guy if we just had a really tight front end kit. I think what needs to happen is that we're going to have to create designs ourselves and then have a vote for which one should be made. By then people would be willing to get in a group buy because they know what they're buying. We could then put that money together and take it to a company like Erebuni, Wings West, Kaminari etc. We'd need about 20 pre-orders. I'm good with photoshop as others are on this board, I'm sure if we put our heads together we could cook something up. Either that or we could try to get a group buy going on a kit similiar to the booty mondeo ones and then talk to companies. just thinking aloud here so anyone chime in if they agree or disagree...
