Hmm... personally I'm more interested in ripping MP3's anyway, so I guess the 7x restriction isn't a big deal to me. Even if I made WMA CD's or whatever, I'd still only be burning it once or twice for myself.
Just out of curiosity, does the 7x restriction apply to multiple-generation copies from CD's, or just from the original file on the HD?

That restriction only applies to files you get from iTunes. Althought, if you burn and then rip it back, it's now a regular file with unlimited use - that's a tough loophole to close.

I used the Napster $9.99/month service for over year and liked it because I could download whatever songs I wanted, play Radio Stations, etc. I just recently found Real Player's Rhapsody which has the same service for $9.99/month, but they have more music than Napster and even iTunes (I have checked, trust me). You can use Rhapsody with almost any MP3 player (including the iPod), and all my purchased tracks from Napster I easily imported to Rhapsody so that I can still burn them whenever I want. Also, if you have the $9.99/month service, tracks only cost $.89 a piece (compared to Napster's $.99) and I don't know if it's an ongoing thing or limited time, but since I've been a member (several weeks) all albums sale for $7.99.

See... if iTunes had a monthly charge with unlimited d/l's, I'd be all over it.
I don't mind it for an occasional song at $0.99. It's a pretty decent deal, but it doesn't have EVERYTHING.

I dont have the details, but when I was working for Shaw (up here in Canada), I remember they were trying to push for Shaw Cable to allow for them to see specifics on what people were downloading and to disclose how much bandwidth people were using. (example, i use about 40-90gbs a month depending) It was thrown out after an uproar of house ISP providers do not have to disclose any information regarding their clients unless forced to.
Again, I'll have to find the articel that has more details.

I done told ya EMusic does. Or at least, I'm pretty sure it does...I haven't hit any restrictions yet.

Sorry, forgot to acknowledge that one... I'll check out what they have available and it might work.

I love itunes. Probably because I have an ipod though. I was given a $15 itunes gift certificate. I ended up purchasing a whole album and a few songs. When I bought the album it told me that itunes will only allow me to burn that album 7 times to a cd and then I can no longer burn it. That's the only thing I did not like.
