hey, i have a question relating to this. in the haynes guide, (i think that's where i read it), i read that the air/oil seperator is housed in the airbox under the filter so that oil and air can be sucked out. so if a performance air filter is installed and the airbox removed... will the particles (or whatever) still be able to get out of the engine without help from the intake?

The stock air/oil seperator is just a crappy piece of foam that is housed in the airbox.
It does the job, just not very well (especially when clogged).
If you put on an aftermarket intake you should put on either a breather filter or make a simple air/oil seperator that reconnects to the intake.

i'd done about 6000 miles since fitting the supercharger kit and had no probs with the breather filter on the cam cover. but i went on a track session, and the increased oil pressure with such high revs caused it to p1ss oil out of it all over the engine! so now i have fitted an oil separator and catch tank.

one of the other mondeo's on the same track session p1ssed out of his cam cover breather too! we were going round, most of the time at 5000 - 7000rpm for 7 laps of 3.2 miles per lap. that kinda builds up alot of oil pressure lol
