I read the below from another group. Well will cleaning the fuel injectors with Acetone improveMPG
"From 23 to 38 MPG is rather astounding. It also occurred to me that If a gain of MPG is based on Acetone's cleaning the injectors, would'nt that return the efficiency to the engine's original MPG rating?"

Where did you read that at? I've somewhat heard abotu that, but haven't the foggiest clue as to how, what kind, how much to use, etc, etc. COuple weeks ago I got to thinking abotu that, tried google, but with no luck and not enough personal knowledge to think of what to search.
ONe question, though.

What are they basing this on? Did the car originally get 38 mpg?
Wouldn't the acetone cause the gaskets in the injectors to swell liek water would?

Nope
I actually saw this on another board: the general consensus was BS. I highly doubt it would pay for itself.

The whole page is so shoddy that I can't see the science being solid.

23 -> 38 isn't unreasonable. I am actually working on a new technology in my garage. Using a 90/10 mix of gasoline and plasma, I think I can get 70-80 mpg out of my Subaru.

Yes, but when deluted with gasoline, acetones properties are changed. Now-- the filler tube is plastic, and wouldn't prolong pouring that in cause some "melting"?
I'm almsot willing to give it a shot in a lawnmower just for [censored] and giggles. I think I will. When I get a sec, I'll compeltly top of the tank in a lawnmower and let it run til it runs otu of gas (just at idle, no moving, etc) and then experiment with the acetone. Considering a .6 Gallon gas tank, I would assume .064 ounces of acetone to teh tank, fully mixed. I'll time each one and see what it results, note any weird smells, backfiring, soot, etc, and I'll give my findings tommorow. Hopefully the neighbors will be okay with a lawnmower running all night.

Are you and Citation X working on that together?
