you don't necessarily need an adapter plate. The story with the steeda is, it is made for the regular 2000-2002(?) Ford Focus w/ the MTX-75. NOT THE SVT version! Anyways, the shifter is a little longer than ours below the "ball" or pivot-point. So that needs to be raised. Dependint on your shift tower, you might need a plate to go on top of it, or one below it(1 piece shift tower). The one below is easier to me, but more work according others. Basically, when you take the old one off, there is a bottom to it. You can pry that off, and discard it. When you put the tower back on, you have to make a plate (sheet metal) that will bolt to the bottom of the tower. The sheet metal is actually atached from the outside of the car (underneath the heat sheild). You can do a serch on steeda in the group buy forum and come up with pictures and better descriptions. It's about an hour install for someone who's never done it before. Hope this helps
