If you want to keep traction, run a tire with some sort of a sidewall. It allows the tire to give a bit and more power to be put down. Look at the guys at the strip, they pull the rubberbands off of thier car and run 14" and 15" tires because they have a sidewall that can wrinkle up and give a little when the power comes on. Of course some slicks would be optimal.




a 235/45/17 IS a pretty good size sidewall.
