Ok, With the death of the almighty temp. gauge in my 95' contour I went to the junk yard...ooo the choices with over 6 contours/mystics to choose from I was over whelmed...but I tried to stay within my model year for parts. Anyway, I pulled a gauge cluster from a 95' V6 mystic <-(I think the spelling may be off but the mercury version of the contour), now I would like to put it in my 95' contour...but after doing some searching on your forums I hear there is a resistor I need to solder in somewhere, where would that be and what size? pics would be helpful.

I don't know about the resister, but I do know that in 95 there was a speedometer that used a speedo cable and one that used the signal from the VSS (vehicle speed sensor). You need to make sure that they match. If you have a speedo cable attached to the speedometer on your car, the new cluster will need to have it too, and vica versa.

I have a 95' zetec without a tach. I installed a aftermarket 5" tach and found a tach reference wire right off of the wiring connectors that go into the back of the cluster. I had also looked for a 4 cyl with tach cluster and didn't find one until I had already installed the aftermarket tach. In my findings I had found that the wiring going to the cluster was different year to year and between engine models. If you are still trying to use the V-6 cluster and have just swapped the 4 cyl tach into it, this may be your problem. You may want to check your pinout and make sure it is the same for the other circuts on the cluster. I have helped a few others with contours and a mystique install tachs into thier cars that were not equipped with them. However your trying to stay with stock.
