However, I really don't care what kind of music other people listen to. Unless, that is, somebody were to blast "Pon De Replay" in front of my house. Then I'd be very hard-pressed not to shoot them for subjecting me to that [censored] miscarriage of a song. Aside from that, I'm fairly open-minded.
I'm on board with that. I listen to a lot of obscure music. Not because it's obscure, because it's good! There are some popular bands I like as well. My tastes are eclectic. Do you know anyone who listens to Elton John AND System Of A Down?
I chimed in because I thought t-red was a little quick on the trigger with king. I didn't think king was trying to act cool, just inform about some bands he saw. The post was no different to me than woodencross' post about this new Narnia (?) movie coming out. I've never heard of either, but I might check them out. Hell, I've made similar posts about bands I saw, like Mars Volta. Just wanted to spread the word.
Bah, nevermind. Do I owe any apologies?

I think your account is zeroed out, buddy. No worries here. I don't mind checking out a new band now and then. I checked out Amber Pacific, and I'm sure I'll hear them on a radio station at some point. The only problem will be recognizing when they are on. I guess the DJ will have to tell me who the band is.
BTW, fellow Elton John and System fan here. Not to mention Billy Joel, Iggy Pop, and of all things, Leonard Cohen. I guess I'm weird.

Sounds like our tastes are similar t-red. I can't stand Billy Joel though. Not because he's not talented...he just gets on my last nerve.
You ever spin any King Crimson? Now THAT'S eclectic! They have influenced SO many current bands it's sick...like Tool and System Of A Down. Gotta love it!
I'll be checking out Amber Pacific later on. Who knows...

Same here. I like good music, period. Some of it is obscure (anyone heard of Gentle Giant or Van Der Graaf Generator?). Then again, one of my favorite bands is Genesis. Before Phil Collins ruined it, anyway.

Yes I do...me. "Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" is one of the best songs ever.

I can see where both sides are coming from on this one. My former roommate used to do the same thing with a local group called G B Leighton here (definitely worth looking at)

Seriously t-red, you were a jerk in the beginning of this thread. Admit it, get over it, move on.
You spelled own3d wrong.
Tom's original post was hilarious because it picks on the growing population of people who think being the biggest fan of a band no one's ever heard of is the path to coolness. It's like the less-known the band is, the cooler they are for being a groupie. Another characteristic of these people is to get ultra-defensive when someone tells them they maybe aren't as cool as they think they are (kind of like the groupies in this thread did). I don't understand it, maybe someone can enlighten me.
