Whats going on fellow CEGers...i am in the process of modifying my whole exhaust system...and after searching for the past couple weeks i am still confused as hell about what a true dual setup is...my plans right now are to buy either the mdsd or weapon r headers with the high flow y-pipe...after reading some posts i noticed that some CEGers use the magnaflow cat converter so I decide to get that...and finally I was going to finish it up by buying the magnaflow resonator and two racing series magnaflow mufflers

-Is that the best bang for your buck way to go?

-Does the magnaflow cat converter make that much of a difference?

-would the performance be that much better if I bought a complete dual exhaust set like the trubendz, borla, ect. instead of you using the stock piping?

-Finally I am either going to go through my local place to order the mufflers but I was wondering if there is a cheaper place to get the weapon r headers than customcougars.com

Looks like you are talking about upgrading your quasi-dual exhaust, not a true dual exhaust. Take a look at DemonSVT's site he has pics of his true dual system. A Trubenz cat-back exhaust, and the others you listed are quasi dual systems.

if you use a y-pipe, its no longer considered true duals since your routing each exhaust manifold into one pipe. True duals is a single pipe from each header all the way back. The stock exhaust catback on the svt is a quasi dual. (One pipe that splits into 2).

so is there a major difference performance wise between quasi-dual exhaust and the true dual?

Not much just living the life in north pole doing the usual drinking atving and preparing to hibernate for the winter since fall ended last week we should be getting our first snow soon. I wish I could live in anchorage but I am up here in the frozen tundra for now.

Hell, make the roadie and come here to Michigan have the shop that did the very first custom true duals on the Contour do it...Dougs Muffler Get ahold of Stazi, well when he's back from his honeymoon, and he'll hook you up. I don't know about a Magnaflow cat, but they'll do the "mystery mod" for you and hook you up. I paid $350.00 for the piping and "mystery mod" and another $525.00 for the Magnaflow SS race mufflers w/4" tips a part of the package, Magnaflow resonaters and flex pipes needed for the true duals. I also paid $70.00 the MILs from Dalls Mustang. Its alot, but quality doesn't cost, it pays PM if you have any further questions. BTW, go with 2" pipe instead of 2 1/4" unless your doing a 3.0L, trust me

yeah thats over a 2 day drive just to get out of alaska, through the alcan which is the deadliest road in the world. i dont wish that drive on anyone. it took a friend of mine 5 days driving like 15 hours a day to get to georgia, and when he got here his car was severly damaged.

Ya no doubt this time of the year I would have to be out of my mind to drive though dead man pass aka the alcan. I am not for sure but for me driving from Fairbanks to the port to get on the ferry would be a day and a half drive. The ferry is a three day long trip, then once I finally hit land I am guessing a couple day drive. I might do it for a free set of true duals and a donation for an unlimited supply of red bull.
