So to speak. A larger intercooler will have a higher pressure drop across it. (the fin design being equal of course)
Any drop makes the compressor work harder for the same cfm flow after the intercooler respectively. That equates to more heat. The good thing is most quality aftermarket intercoolers are pretty efficient to begin with.
