What cfm should I look for in an intercooler. Would be a 3L.

probably one that would meet or exceed the cfm of the turbo/supercharger.

just an fyi. the upgraded spearco intercooler that comes with the ADC T3/T4 kit is a 700 cfm.

I believe the intercooler that Rick(Buckshot) is fabbing up is 700cfm also, IIRC.

The one that I started using in 2003 was a 700CFM two pass core. Works great.

700cfm is plenty for ANY FI project.
Just do the math and you'll quickly figure out why.

That is a lot of CFM, the turbo I was looking at upgrading the STi too is just shy of 500cfm, the subie folks go nuts upgrading to frount mounts but I think its overkill when looking at cfm. Anybody know a good calc to size a intercooler?
Edit: found a good explanation of how to calculate the size, its somewhat generic but should work well if you can get some of the data on the core like the example shows from Spearco.

That seems like it is a good estimate. I would think temperature would play a huge factor in those figures.
