Man, we're indian we live for this stuff. If our ancestors can survive monsoons, this is a cake-walk. Aside from the testosterone talk, be safe and don't do anything stupid.

Bail. Seriously. This sucker is a Cat4 now and it's STILL got how many hundreds of miles of warm water to suck up and feed off of before it makes landfall?

I'm willing to bet with the winds this b*tch is pushing that most of Houston will be without power for a week; maybe longer.

Let me put it this way; my phone has been ringing off the hook for the last day from customers that are asking me to spot-check their DR plans for their datacenters; most are planning for up to a 2 week interruption to play things safe...

Dammit, and one of my server farms is in Houston! Time to check my own DR plan, and see how long it'll take to transition back over into Austin...

I don't think it will be too bad in Houston if the hurricane comes over here. Drainage is good. Galveston will be affected much more. It's right on the coast, were the Gulf of Mexico is, and has a lower elevation than Houston. They're already evacuating. You should still be prepared though. Yea. I wouldn't leave unless they started evacuating.

I know, I'm so torn, don't know what to do. . .the law firm I'm at has literally SHUT DOWN, and everyone is whigging out and leaving. . .
Like ancientsanskrit was saying, I'm Indian, this [censored] is nothing in terms of the aftermath (I've lived there, not had toilets, not used toilet paper, bathed with a bucket, etc.). . .it's the winds I'm a little, actually a lot worried about. . .yeah, I'm starting to wonder if it'll be easier to just get PAST san antonio, find a camping ground or something. . .I have friends that are going, I guess I'll hitch a ride with them . . .CRAP!!!!!!!!

thanks for the advice fellas. . .I've got empty containers that I'll fill with water that should last me awhile. . and of course, I've got the dogs that I can eat. . .

I guess I'll be off the boards for awhile. . .g-luck to you all!!

I'm a fan of camping myself and "roughing" it, but not in my own living-room.

All I know is president Bush better get his butt down there 1 second after the hurricane hits and not a second more or else all hell is going to break loose again. I hope he has his maps of the city and a disaster plan ready, because you know, he has to micro manage everything in this nation or its his fault.

That day that it rained. I was struck by lightning. Seriously. It wasn't direct, but I was knocked to the ground and screamed at a pitch that I don't believe I could ever hit again.
