Alright, Todd.

We just went over this in ryan's thread and the end response was "grow thicker skin and people stop making fun of you.." chad hasn't gotten upset, or lost it with all the fun you and others poke at him.. He's been doing rather well with his newly aquired "thicker skin". When are you guys going to "stop" like everyone suggested would happen in the other thread?

there's a huge difference between being made fun of for something you've done to your car, and being a habitual/chronic liar. one who has now said numerous times that he was leaving the forums and never coming back no less.

besides, this is comedic gold... to ask us to ignore it is to ask the impossible.

and, as an homage to our beloved chad (and in response to the movie i was in of his)

i present to you....

"the liar"

I wish I was a fly on the wall when you ever told a lie(or 10 or fifty!).. I'd hound you about it forever, too.

SO WHAT he said he was leaving.. TONS of people were "out of here!!" (SteedaSan was "done with CEG.. for good" how many times?? Pick on him.... no? why not?

not comedic gold... immaturity.. Now, I know you may be a totally different person in "real life" and that is a great crutch to lean on ("Its just the internet, who cares??") but when people come on here and say "man.. this site is more immature than any other out there!" I have to believe that this is PART of it.

Its over... Its run its course.. EVERYONE knows, that wants to know.. anyone that doesn't know at this point either doesn't CARE to know... or isn't on CEG... Your job is done... Pick on me for a while... at least change it up every once in a while. I'll go do something stupid so you can have "a reason"..

no... i'm EXACTLY the same in real life. and although the real world isn't nearly as kind as you would like it to be, i will tone it down here at CEG if that is what you wish.

consider this... what would you rather have a forum full of? people who frequently lie and do bad business with other members, or ones who are frequently joking and smartasses?

You're asking me what I want?

I'd want for the "smartalecks" to foster that type of attitude to EVERYONE, equally.. If they trully are just a little more harsh and abrasive than your run-of-the-mill CEG patron, I'd hope they'd do it to everyone, so there's no reason to think there is any bias. People holler about mods being "biased" all the time, but they were only doing what is is they had to do. Now, the "smartalecks" are being biased (towards a few members) but that's just "normal".. They someone deserved it.

Maybe my mom was wrong when she tought me that:
If someone wrongs you... disassociate yourself from them
If someone steals from you, remove your belongings from their opportunity
If someone lies to you, remove them from your list of credible resources.

I never heard her say "If someone lies... MAKE SURE the world knows, and pester them all day. make it your objective to point it out every chance you get".

Of course, she also always said "Blowing someone else's candle out doesn't make yours any brighter. It just makes it harder to see." and "Treat others as you would like to be treated" (okay.. tons of people say that, and got it from a more credible source, but still)

Besides.. what does it matter what I want...

I guess what I would want is for you to WANT to let it go. I can't make that happen, and I'd be a fool for thinking I could. I know my limitations Anyone on CEG has the right to do whatever they wish. If thier motives aren't influenced in the least by the image they are projecting, then how I see the situation isn't relevant.

i can't speak for many others, but i know myself and most of the people i'm sure you associate with me are smartalecks to everyone, and even more so to each other.

it's not so much a matter of me letting it go.... i just find it amusing that people can pull all this crap then just continue on like nothing ever happened. if they have the audacity to do that (and not apologize or anything of that ilk), then i will certainly have the audacity to poke fun at them when i see fit.

We certainly know where we both stand on the issue.

I like to think that I can keep different topics on different levels. FWIW: I don't automatically "associate" you with anyone, or as being any certain way.. I have nothing against you on a personal level. I certainly tried to keep my discussion with you on as professional and logical of a basis as I could. I hope that you were able to walk away feeling that way, as it is certainly what I strived for.

AKA

You're alright in my book. Just different from me.

This isn't at the salvage yard. It's at the salvage auction. Cars like this don't make it to the salvage yards, they're usually sold for scrap. Most insurance totals will go through a salvage auction first. If no one bids on a particluar car it is sold for the lowest possible bid (right now its $10., but varys with metal rates). There's a little more to it than that, but you get the idea. A salvage yard won't bother with a car like this even if it does have a few good parts on it. On the other hand, a badly beaten car like this one could go for a few bucks if it was a desired model because "exporters" will buy them just for the cars paper work. What they're doing is pulling the vin tags off of it and putting them on a stolen car and shipping it over seas. A lot of scaming going on at the auctions!

I so have wanted to get into doing this since my brother turned me onto it a few years ago.

He was searching the auctions around the area for a heavily damaged Cobra that he could take the engine out of and stick in his GT, or keep the low mile (as in a 98 with 20K, in 2002) GT and figure out a way to get the Cobra motor to work in his Ranger. Too bad he got rid of both of those vehicles and now has warrantied newer vehicles and collectables (like a 454SS truck).

He told me how he was watching the auctions and saw 4-5 year old Intrepids and Tauruses going for $500-$600 with minor header (no structural) damage, "no key" or "no title". I think I have the ability to fix flood water vechicles too.

Oh, and that wrecked one reminds me of my old teal 96GL that had a white driver fender and purple passenger fender.
