Pete, Yeah, they were originally off my 95, but they looked in such good shape when i pulled it apart, i couldn't see any reason to replace them when building the 3L. Guess on this rebuild, I'm going to replace all of them, JIC.

As far as keeping tension, I noticed before i pulled my 2.5 apart, i did have a slight tick and found upon teardown it was coming from the front tensioner not pumping up due to a block oil passage from the pump. The tensioner was fine though.


I'll put holes in him!!

I know I dont have a 3L but I remember reading this thread. Today I was tearing down my 32K 99 svt engine and I have the same tensioner broke in the same spot. This is weird, anyone else have any input

Yeah, they are old and not that precise anyway. Just change them out with new ones.
