Ok - hate to come back, but back to the starting probs. Every time I do something it works for a while. Right now I have bought another car - getting ready to sell this 95 v6 'tour, but can't until I know it'll treat the next driver OK.

Intermittent no-starts. When it doesn't start the fuel pump DOESN'T prime. All I hear is a "tick-tock tick-tock" from under the hood. New fuel pump less than 7k ago. CEL light works like it should (comes on for test - goes off to crank). No codes. New fuel filter - and cleaned IAC.

So what is that tick-tock sound? Car runs fine when it starts - doesn't seem like it could be the pump again, more like it doesnt get the message to turn on. Maybe a wire somewhere?

Again - I can't in good conscious sell this thing unless I feel good about it. UNLESS someone on here in Denver wants to take as is and fix it I guess.

95 v6 5sp, 120k
newer fuel pump, alt, batt and cables, fuel filter

whats did u try b4 to get it to start?

does the engine try to crank over or does it just go tick tock tick tock?

u say the pump doent prime sometimes, im not sure where teh relay is , btu if its under teh hood that could be teh tick tock u hear

get ur fuel pressure checked
relay could be going bad , checked teh voltage going to ur relay , check the relay itself and check voltage going to ur pump, if all these are working correctly and u think its fuel pump problem it could be ur pump

it could be many other things also
plugs, wires, leaky injectors would sometime cause a starting problem, a bad coil

good luck on finding the problem

Yeah - the engine will crank OK - if I take it that far - but not start. It'll tick tock at the first quater key turn - right where you would normally hear the whir of the fuel pump starting... its definately and either-or proposition.

I have no idea where the relay would be or what to do with it.

Remove the battery junction box lid (next to the battery.. the fuse box)

Have a friend turn the key to "on" (not start) and you listen in the hood for the ticking.

If its the fuel pump relay, it will be coming from the fuse box, next to the battery. there will be a row of 4(iirc) relays running from driver's side to passenger's side. Listen to those four when they turn the key.

And if all that fails try looking at the crank position sensor and wiring.
Known to cause intermittent no starts or no starts at all.
