What is the procedure for the shortened ATX shifter mod? I did a search but didn't pull anything up...am I searching for the wrong topic?
I wouldn't mind mine being a little shorter...I've got a friend with a Jetta - like his a lot...

Pretty much, yes. The shifter is in the way of my minidisc holder I made in the empty slot. It needs to move.

I agree it's way to tall. That is the first thing I noticed when I test drove the car. It's ugly as hell. It must have come out of Ford's school bus parts bin.

yeah, how do you make it shorter. I swear mine looks taller than my armrest! I like the look of the Jetta shifter too. Please help me, my car looks like a dork!

Well there is a thread on shortening it but the problem is that you would have to cut the physical shifter itself, which is not reversible. The stock ATX knob is ugly, but surprisingly comfortable.
