Hello my name is Will and i am 17 years old. I live currently in Columbus ohio.

I recently got a red 98 contour svt with 62000 miles for 5 thosand with the trade in of my old beauty a 97 Mercury grand marquis I love the car it is great in every way.. as it sits now its bone stock exept the car is lowered 2 inches which the previous owner did. Il try and get some pics up soon. I have a few quick questions i used the search button but didnt find anything on this matter...if this has been asked befor i apolgize. The car came without the jack inserts on the left side and i was wondering if and where i could get a new set of two? another question my 0-60 was a high 6 what would that be on the 1320... a 15.3 or so i would guess? Also how hard is it on the tranny to launch by popping the clutch at a high rpm? (4-5) I would imagine its pretty bad but i just wanna know if i can a few times just incase i have a really close race when i go to the track in a few weeks. Thank you for your time and im looking forward to speaking with the fellow csvt owners out there.. are there any other close the the central ohio region?

Thanks

-Will

Welcome.

As best as I quickly can:

  • Bill Jenkins offers discounts for being a CEG member.
so does Steve at Tousley ford (30-60% off)
both numbers can be found under Duratec maintenance, in the FAQ at the top.
  • Bone stock, look for a GREAT time to be 15.2ish Get your 60' time to 2.1x or so (the hard part)
Check out the Dyno&Drag forum for more info)
  • I don't CARE how bad you want to win.. unless you bet enough money to pay for a new tranny.. DON'T DUMP THE CLUTCH at that rpm. Again, check the dyno&drag forum for recommendations on launching. Look in to installing an LSD, unless you want MAJOR repair problems once your differential is GONE (wheelhop kills it.. and it doesn't take aggressive driving for hop to occur... wet roads can do it...)
  • look at your local regional forum, towards the bottom, to find local OH members.
  • Welcome to CEG
  • Use 5W30 Oil, at 6-6.5 qts, regardless of the owners manual
  • Avoid SHARP, or LONG(or both) right hand turns at any upper rpm.. think "clover leaf on ramp" FAILED ENGINE can result.. see my oil level statement above to HELP protect it
  • Search, read all stickies at the top of each forum that applies to you (transaxle, troubleshootin, mods, maintenance, etc)

Wow.. guys, I think I trimmed 4 minutes off the usual schpiel that everyone gets.

Anyway;

Welcome.

Ray

-for new jack inserts contact bill j at team ford. his contact info should be in this forum and he gives us a 25% discount. you can also check the yards to see if you can get lucky and find a set there.

-a high rpm clutch dump is fatal to the stock diff. do this and you will most likely be needing a tow home. you see, the stock diff is made of glass.

-normal 1/4 times are iirc low 15's

-for others in your area check out the east great lakes forum

welcome
