post in question

I am not interested in the cause of the troublecode, that's not my concern at this point and I have an idea anyway. I asked a general question about the inner logic of PCM and I indicated as much in the subject line. whoever moved my question was not capable of answering the question but was confident enough that I am incapable of posting in the appropriate forum. that's ironic

so in other words I appreciate the moderator's effort, but I guess I fail to see a reason behind it.

Alex,

Lighten up!

The moderators do this on their own time. Overall they do one hell of a good job!

There is a saying among forefighters. "He who criticizes the cook, becomes the cook." Unless you have been in the shoes of a moderator, you have no idea of what they do for all of us.

I greatly appreciate their work as well as all others that make this site available!

You should too.

Everything in moderation. That's my philosophy.

Ok, so let's cover all outstanding points:

Brian:
as the matter stands, the question remains unanswered. Even w/ flame-bait like this one everyone is eager to up the post count here, but not there. Wonder why that is.
Pete:
I have a life thank you.
Matt:
Thanks for understanding. My reasoning was exactly as you pointed out.
Jim:
I appreciate the effort. I simply questioned the motives. These are two different things and they do not contradict each other. I might've sounded irritated, but that's not how I wanted to come across.
Roger:
pan intended

I posted in General forum consciously. Knowing that people react to keywords rather than the context where these keywords are encountered in, I pointed out in the subject line that I would like this question to be treated as General because that's what it was. I thought it ought to be enough. Apparently I was wrong. So while I would like to avoid prolonging this thread, I will say it again, I fail to see the reasoning.

Now somebody please answer my question: under what circumstances can a PCM store trouble code w/o MIL on.

FWIW, I passed NJ emission today morning, but then code is not OBD-II generic, so they might not even see it.

Alex,

Please refer to rule #7 of the Forum rules, as it applies to moderators and admins as well as everyone else.

In fairness, I don't know why your thread was moved; all I can say is that the mods and admins are regular people, and aren't always perfect.

If your question doesn't get answered, feel free to repost it in the appropriate forum, and I'm sure it won't get moved again.
