200K coming up soon... and this is my to do list...

front pads and rotors / caliper service / brake fluid
water pump / tensioner / belt / thermostat / coolant
new tranny fluid
fuel filter

air filter was cleaned some 5k ago... new spark-plugs in spring...
and other than that slipping clutch the car is running great!

hmmm... is there anything else?

Aside from a good pampering...not much.

Have you had the engine cleaned out internally? A few folks here have used Motorvac or Terraclean to "flush" out deposits in their combustion chambers.

How about cleaning the UIM? I hear that's always fun on a Duratec

right... don't feel like dumping that much money right now.... plus with the winter just around the corner I think that slip will help a bit - no TC here!

and nope, did not cleaned the combustion chambers yet... how does that work? just like a tb cleaner kinda thing? please let me know, I might consider that... what about the results? any diff?

the uim was cleaned in the spring... or maybe it was autumn... I had a faulty gasket and I cleaned it then...

Thanks for the suggestion.

Treatments like a Motorvac or Terraclean basically aim to clean out the combustion chambers, intakes, etc through running a cleaning solution as gas and letting the engine run.

I think a few of us have done the treatments, and have been pleased. But, some people said it made no difference in the long run...except $100 to $200 poorer.

If you've been good in keeping the maintenance, then maybe it's one of those "I'll do it whenever" deals.

But yeah...I'd keep an eye on the clutch.

I had a terraclean on mine (SVT) a few weeks ago. The engine seems to rev smoother and fuel economy is better than it was. I'm not sure about regaining stock horses but it looks like it helped. I also replaced my old dying alternator on the SVT this weekend with a friend. Major PITA but it really needed it. I was so badly cracked that there was a lot of resistance on the alt. pulley. It was almost impossible to turm it a full 360 degrees. I felt the difference instantly when I first drove the car after installing the new alt. Regained some power on launch !

Back on topic : I would suggest that you should flush your power steering fluid too, especially if it is starting to get dark. You could also clean you TB. Don't forget the 2nd timing belt My zetec is about to reach 220k kms, I recently went through this

The power steering flush is a really good idea... I have a leak at the pump for some time now and I thought I would do it together with changing the pump...

the decarb treatments seem very much like voodoo to me... years of burning fuel won't go away that easy... I used to spray in the tb cleaner regularly and I had quite the surprise when I changed my uim gasket... all those treatments did nothing... so I think I'm gonna pass on that one...

I will comment on the engine cleaners like Motorvac etc. I have done one of these every year since I have owned my car and I always notice a difference in the way it idles and runs in general. Always for the better. But that is just my two cents worth, take it for what it is.

I know my local dealership uses a Wynn System for a power steering fluid flush. I believe one of the parts of the flush is actually an internal leak sealer. It might be worth doing.

They originally suggested I do a power steering flush on my Focus every 60,000 km. I'm sure if you haven't done it yet...you should.
