So, I finally got it done.
My car was originally only with the speedo cluster, but now I have the one with a tacho instead.

I had one problem, an that was that the fuel gauge worked inverted full=empty!

After wainting for some time, I got the in-tank pump/sensor from the donor car, and upon installing this everyting works fine now...
The sensor did send an inverted signal....!!!
Partnumbers were also different:
Original: 97BP-AA
New: 98BP-AA

So anyone doing this mod: get the tank unit also, as your own might not work properly with the new cluster...

Uhhhhhhhhhhhh...anyway...ON Topic

Thanks for the info. I had the same problem some months ago when I tried swapping gauges from a 98 Mystique into my 98.5 Contour. Only had a couple problems that made it non feasible. It was kinda cool though, having the fuel read backwards. Your car actually gains gasoline as you drive it. laugh Pretty cool.

I do have a couple questions if you don't mind.
First, what did you do about the odometer? I assume they were different.
Second, does your Cruise Control work still?

TIA. laugh

Well, I have a bad habit of buing cars without ANY extras, This is actually the only extra in it. smile
Since it is only a 1.8 Zetec, u cannot buy cruise control as factory optional.. frown

Odometer? I didn't do anything.
The 97 model of the mondeo has an electrical odometer, so when I ordered the cluster from the wrecker,I just asked for an electrical version.
It has not been adjusted to show correct mileage -yet, I'm still thinking about a way to roll it forward without dismantling it....
I have done that on older Ford odometers....

Does anyone know what type of signal the odometer gets from the ECU?

Btw the meter internals looks as the older version I had in my 1985 ford..., except for the fact that there is an electrical motor to drive the clock and another electrical device to move the needle.

Dont know about the cruise problem, but it really sounds strange that the cruise control should be affected by the instrument cluster...???
