V6, ATX 1997 The car heats up to normal and the ATX starts slipping badly. Cool down and it seems to work OK for a while and then slips. Have not yet had a chance to check fluid level as this has just started and the car is busy cooling down about 3 blocks from home. Help

Hate to say it but it sounds like u need a new TC or a whole new trans. You can try some drain and fills (ATX drain and fill on the top of the transaxle forum) but I can not guarantee that anything will change. It did help my car slipping out. Also if you decide to do the drain and fills...put a bottle of lucus trans fix in there too. Any more questions you can PM me if you wish.

OD light flashing? Any CELs? Any other lights on, on instrument panel when driving?

Do a drain and fill and let us know how it turns out. You may have to do two, but at least post back here to let us know how it turns out.

I forgot to mention. While accelerating it is making a whiring sound, like a mini supercharger???

A bad pump or fluid traveling through your pump can cause that sound... then again, mine and BT's has made this sound ever since our trannys were rebuilt. And we installed new pumps. Some slight whining is normal, but if it is loud, well that is a sign that your pump is going out. Change the fluid a few times and we will go from there.

Ok.. the fluid is clean. The old stuff was clean and didn't even smell bad. No luck, no go, no gears. Crap.
