those are your words, not mine. i just have a different pov. never said mine was the only right one or better than anyone esles.

explained myself? you the ceg hip hop police now? lol. last i checked i'm free to have any opinion i want and so are you. if you like the majority of mainstream rap then whoop de f'ing do. doesn't bother me one bit.

my original comment was in jest, but obviously it got your manties in a bunch.
i see a bunch of posts about lame rappers (imo) and that's enough for me to think that some people have different tastes. so what? we're not entitled to opinions on the internets anymore? when was that put in the patriot act?

yes, you are entitled to your own opinion. however, when you spew ignorant garbage out of your mouth(in jest or otherwise) like you did here:

you are very likely to be called upon to explain yourself. so again we ask you, explain to us simpletons the "true" "hip hop/rap culture outside of the over-publicized stuff."

didn't know i hurt so many feelings. it was the hall and oates thing wasn't it. i really do have their best of cd. tears for fears too, no joke.
anyways, i'm not gonna sit here and act like there's some hip hop utopia that's restricted to my experiences and preferences. however i've been an avid connoisseur for over 20 years and have experienced all the core aspects of hip hop culture. i'd compare it to a mechanic who's been building race car engines for 20 years listening to a kid asking for help changing headers. it didn't hurt my feelings when people knew more about my contour than me. i thought it was a gem when i found out that turning the crank position or wiggling the sensor was sometime an easy fix when my contour wouldn't start.
that said it's entertaining to see other peoples pov on hip hop, especially places like ceg where people complain about snoop being a spokesperson for chrysler. there's even a couple statements in this thread condemning or degrading hip hop music, probably because what they know of it and have been exposed to is crap. you got people saying luda is the best rapper which is a disservice to rap music, no offense. so you see, for me to say that most people on this site know very litle about hip hop culture isn't much of a stretch from my pov. the people who do know something about hip hop are probably all in this thread with the exception of a few. given a substantial cushion that's what maybe 50 people on this site out of 11,000 with an informed view on hip hop?

not trolling for arguments. and you have to determine what you like for yourself, music is all about taste and preference. there's probably 100 rappers/groups already named in this thread, some of them make good songs. i prefer old school (83-88) and golden age (89-94) to new school, but there is some newer stuff that's good to me too. even gave two examples.

Still you say we don't know what we are talking about. Stop dodging the question and answer it.

perhaps i am being a little overly aggressive, i do that sometimes. you know, showing up to a knife fight in a tank. i still want to hear your insight on what is good rap and what this culture is since you and i appear to agree on what crap is. mind you my taste in music is pretty eclectic so i may well see your point of view. but even if i don't, telling me i don't know what i am talking about and then running away from discussion is an insult to me and my intelligence. my playlist has everything from johnny cash and hank williams sr to pavarotti and vanessa mae. polar opposites.
