And can I ask why you would make such an uneducated assumption about a message board in which you've probably met a total of .01% of it's population?

in my opinion, i don't like Ludacris. i also don't think he should of won the moon-man at the 2005 VMA's either. i just think his raps are nothing, and don't catch my attention like some other artist's do. especially his rap, "number one spot", and "pimpin' around the world", he raps about being number one, rollin' out, or braggin' about stuff way to much.
Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

good point. a fair amount of the music i listen to is older than the vast majority of ceg'ers including but not limited too some seriously old country and yet i don't listen to john denver or hall and oates. i have listened to rap in the past (mid-late 90's) and again in 2001 and that is what i base my opinion on. most of it is just crap. some of it is pretty ok and one or two are actually good tunes but most of it is a bunch of overstuffed wanna be gangsters creating drama so that they can whine cry moan and complain about how the system screwed them or how they are going to mistreat people and women because it is what they feel like doing. so no, my opinion is not based upon what i see sitting in my upper middle class home(which i don't have) in my white neighborhood (which i do not live in) while sipping my earl grey tea and reading the wall street journal. but if you wanna ignore the facts and continue spouting this tripe then go ahead. you know what they say about ignorance being bliss.

lol @ uneducated assumption. my statement is based on opinion, mark. plus the fact that i've been here much longer than you and have seen these threads previously and this is a contour enthusiast board and not a hip hop discussion board.
in addition to the above, 95% of the replies in this thread alone are evidence that even though some people have been exposed to rap, most still have little understanding about hip hop music/culture in general. so as i said before...

honestly, i'm not interested in discussing hip hop music/culture here. your statement earlier in this thread is part of the reason and it is very likely to go off topic.
...if you knew more about the rappers who's opinion you prefer and the comments they've made you'd probably take back your statement. lol.

I know NAS's bit of history lashing out at opressors. But their more recent music has has been about encouraging the kids that look up to them rather than making excuses. Almost all of them, in some lyric or public statement said something derogatory. And it gets marked up as, he/she's had a rough life, Lauren Hill for example.
I hope Kanye gets over it and puts out a more positive message. Right now, he's not. I own/listened to his last two albums. His message was sad despite his skills.
