I'm so sick of modern rap, and find myself pulling out the old CDs all the time.
I will honestly say the only new modern rapper I like is Kanye West . I bought his first and second CD recently and love both of them. Never get bored of it. Good style, real world lyrics, and some fun songs.
Those are the only CDs I would let myself buy now. My music style is changing alot lately because of the lack of good rap. I'm listening to alot more music like Green Day and what not.

Do you have any suggestions? Where should I look?

No kidding. In most cases you need someone to hold your hand for a little while when entering an underground scene. Send this man some info and names!

As much as I woulnd't like to admit it, crrent rap isn't very good. Right now I just listen to tracks from the mid to late 90's. It's sad that Jay-Z is working as president as Def Jam and works hard enough to come up with better lyrics than almost 98% of rappers out there.

Ludacris, T.I.P., Kanye West, Nelly, Outkast, Dilated peoples, A tribe called quest, Nas, Da Brat, common, Mos def. Little Jon sucks as a rapper but his albums are great b/c of all the people on them. Jay-z, Missy, Nate Dogg, Ja Rule(before the 50 cent beef), ST lunatics free city(In the player now), Nappy Roots, Jadakiss, anything Scarface. Also 8ball & MJG, MJG did a solo album a couple of years back that was amazing! I'm sure I forgot a couple, but new rap is getting pretty tasteless. You just have to sift through all the BS to get to the good stuff. I stopped listening to the radio and watching music videos about 2 years ago, its a waste! I'll come back when I think of more!

DJ Magic Mike comes to mind when I think of a decent rapper.
Not much rapping takes place on the airwaves these days. It's spouting ganksta this and ganksta that. Gonna put a bullet in yo' head if you steal my crack, and I slap da' ho's cause she don't get on all fo's.
Oh, and it's tough living in the ghetto. Phu'leeze!!!

J5 is great, so it Latyrx. Lateef is pretty good, and Lyrics Born is sublime. The underground in SoCal is still churning out good stuff. Also, Jay Z is a pretty talented rapper. He has a lot of junky over-produced songs, but sometimes his skill shows through. It really comes out on the Grey Album remix.

Kayne has skills but quiet frankly, I can't stand his "It's all the white peoples fault" crap. I prefer Nas and Talib's opinion that change comes from within.
Half the kids I grew up with are useless potheads. I don't blame the black and hispanics in the neighborhood, I blame poor parenting.
Sorry for the tangent and I don't want this thres to go OT. Just my opinion. PM me if you don't like my views.

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

The only rappers that I've found remotely interesting in a long while are People Under The Stairs.
