Just a little update.
The guy claiming that the laptop was stolen from his office was being genuine in this claim. I took it to the state police, they checked, it was indeed stolen, so it's now on it's way to the prosecuting(sp?) authority as evidence...
but at least I had a laptop for an hour.
Things are in the works with Paypal to get my money back, and if something goes wrong there, the laptop owner continues to assure me that I will be reimbursed for being an upstanding citizen.
When everything is said and done, I'm not sure if I'm going to try finding another laptop or not, but if I do it will probably be new.
