In the end stages of a motor replacement and have an extra red wire in the vicinity of the alternator. I have the multi-plug, a heavy red wire with rubber insulating cap that goes to the heavy fuse, a thin grey wire, AND AN EXTRA WIRE WITH A SCREW LUG. The extra wire is red so I'm thinking it goes under the heavy wire but thought I'd check first.

I've never seen an extra wire on the alternator. Does it go back into the harness or can you trace it elsewhere?

Yes, it goes under the main red thick gauge power wire.

I want to try this mod. I still have less than 14V all the time, even with a new alternator. My only concern is that the mod does not cause the battery light to stay on all the time. The CEL being on 99% of the time already, is enough for me!

I would be able to check if this would happen if I had my Ford CD on me, but I don't. I just want to know if anyone has done this mod and if affects the battery light or not.
