i had a escort that did that. it was a faulty relay fried by my amplifier 12 volt lead touching ground. after it stalled i had to take the neg off and wait a minute or 2 then she would work again. i found out it was the relay when one day the car stalled and i heard a clicking noise under my steering wheel thinking it was a bomb lol.my car was stick shift
