During the time first book of the Bible (Genesis, for those keeping score at home) was written, the Egyptian society was actually pretty well versed in architecture, geometry, agriculture (irrigation was a huge step in civilization, mind you), medicine, metallurgy, astronomy, etc. Granted, none of this is quantum physics, but if that were the benchmark, Darwin wouldn't have a leg to stand on, either.
The Bible was written by men who had the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

As for Theistic Evolution, that is not a biblical principal, since:
A. God created all things in their own kind.
B. God created, and saw it was good, then ended the creative process.
What most fail to realize is that the Bible is not a complete history, science, geneaology, etc. It is an overview that gives you ample information to get the gist, and let you make your own decisions. I pray that God opens some of your hearts to His word.

Just my .02, though I may have overpaid.
