Florida handled their many hurricanes well and should have been a model for NO LA.

Apples and Oranges. Tell me when there was a hurricane in Florida that was comparable to Katrina. Katrina was a natural disaster of unprecented magnitude in this country. I could be wrong, but I bet the deaths in LA attributable to Katrina exceed the deaths in Florida from ALL HURRICANES IN RECORDED HISTORY.

EAsily,

Hurricane Andrew???

Let me point out that the Hurricane storm did little damage to New Orleans by itself. It wasn't some unprecedented Hurricane that hurt New Orleans, It was the FLOOD that killed everyone. By my thinking, New Orleans is ON THE DAMN Mississippi River! Floods happen every year and that should have been their most well rehearsed disaster! This means they have even LESS excuse for botching something like this. Floods have much less warning than 5 days like the hurricane gave them; meaning: They should be able to react much quicker to a flood or potential flood.

Florida has little deaths during hurricanes because they face them all the time and have figured out how to handle them. Mississippi is the state that REALLY got hurt by the actual hurricane! We should be shedding tears for those people who really suffered the unprecedented storm.

Does it make sense to you now????
