I heard on the radio this morning that Wal-mart was going to open up something like 40 of their stores in the affected area and give away essentials like food, water, formula, diapers, and clothes to people with demonstrated need, so they are trying to do their part.

2. Have them deliver these items to a nearby AFB, in Texas maybe.
3. Load up a few C130s or a few dozen helicopters with this stuff and
4. Drop this stuff in the vicinity of the Superdome, where there is the equivalent of a small city living with no food, water, or sanitary supplies?
At this point, do you know what would happen if this were to take place? I don't think any of the supplies would survive long enough to do any good. The people down there are so desperate for all of this stuff that this would probably incite a riot and kill a whole lot more people than it helped.
If we are going to make a difference, we need people in charge of distribution of supplies that have the authority and firepower to keep people from rioting. Otherwise you are going to have mass chaos and nobody would get helped.
Good intentions, bad execution.

I'd like to personally apologize to the NAALCP (National Asscociation for the Advancement of Liberal Colored People) for everything that has happen since 1970, the year I was born. I'm truely sorry and my repreation check is in the mail to make up for it, who should I address mine to ..................... I'd like to pass along something that I've come up with, its called "urban mentality" and "suburban mentality". Heres and example of "suburban mentality"..."I'm not going down to Detroit, I heard from a friend of a cousin that they got robbed while they were there!". "Go to Mexican Village for dinner, no way, my car will get stolen!" Thats "suburban mentality". Now I'll give you "urban mentality". "Out in the suburbs, they got better schools because they're white!". "I don't want you comin' down here, your not from Detroit and you don't live here!" These two examples are a sliver of whats wrong with Detroit and our suburbs. A race riot back in 67' that we haven't gotten over yet and generations afterwards are STILL paying for it. I grew up in the city of Detroit, not some culdasack in the suburbs and I was even discriminated against, just because I grew up in the Detroit I used to ride my bike home after dark and I didn't have any problems. Was it bad back then, sure, but if you walk around thinking something is going to happen, its going to and if your nervous around people of color, well, they have every right to hate you because they can detect it right away, another example of "suburban mentality"

I would have thought that the 500 National Guardsmen armed with machine guns that were supposedly on site would have been able to provide some assistance.

It also sucks that they blame Bush for this, but then again, whats new, everything is Bushs fault. I dont' want this to happen, but if a guardsmen shots a black person for looting down there, all hell is going to break loose, so lets pray, pray HARD, that it doesn't happen. The last thing we need is a circus down there w/ Jesse Jackson, Rev Al, Quasme Ifunma (spelling, yeah right) and Lewis Farakahn, what an additonal tragedy that would truely be
It is interesting, that you listed FOUR racist people and yet they are labeled as "black leaders". That is like calling David Duke a white leader.
You all need to realise that the NAACP does not represent every African-American in this country and to label this as such is a disgrace to all the others. You all have to realise is that these leaders have a thier own personal agenda's and they are using the disaster to promote it.

You don't think these are black leaders? Then who are?

There are no black leaders. Those people are leaders of organizations. Hell, why does it matter, anyway? Why is it so important to label someone a black leader? If it makes you feel better, call them black leaders.

Yet, you just said that we could compare them to David Duke being a "white leader"... How come there are no "black leaders" (racial overtones, as you implied), but there are "white leaders"?
That, to me, sounded a little hypocritical..
I would love to hear a further explanation, as I am not trying to jump on you, or anything.. I am just confused, and would like to learn.

MLK, was the only true black leader. Ray, the difference is that Jessie Jackson and the others, that were listed are called black leaders. The fact of the matter is that, they are racist and they don't represent African-Americans.
Just like I stated before, that is like me saying, David Duke speaks for all caucasins in America. We both know, that he is not.
