I'd like to pass along something that I've come up with, its called "urban mentality" and "suburban mentality". Heres and example of "suburban mentality"..."I'm not going down to Detroit, I heard from a friend of a cousin that they got robbed while they were there!". "Go to Mexican Village for dinner, no way, my car will get stolen!" Thats "suburban mentality". Now I'll give you "urban mentality". "Out in the suburbs, they got better schools because they're white!". "I don't want you comin' down here, your not from Detroit and you don't live here!" These two examples are a sliver of whats wrong with Detroit and our suburbs. A race riot back in 67' that we haven't gotten over yet and generations afterwards are STILL paying for it. I grew up in the city of Detroit, not some culdasack in the suburbs and I was even discriminated against, just because I grew up in the Detroit
I used to ride my bike home after dark and I didn't have any problems. Was it bad back then, sure, but if you walk around thinking something is going to happen, its going to and if your nervous around people of color, well, they have every right to hate you because they can detect it right away, another example of "suburban mentality"
