"There is nothing worse than coming home from a bar or club after an evening out and finding that your clothes smell disgusting because they have been saturated with stench of smoke. I'm not the only one who is fed up of this, and I'm not some born again non-smoker, I just wish that I had a choice whether or not I came home smelling like a dirty ashtray.

Ban smoking in public places

Another thing that I really hate is walking down the street behind someone smoking a cigarette. Every time they exhale out comes that cloud of stale smoke and bang, you walk straight into it and aside from crossing over to the other side of the street there is very little you can do about it. It is not a pleasant experience and it is one I could live quite happily without.

I know there are a lot of people in this country that smoke and I'll be willing to bet that some that are reading this article are fed up with people who don't smoke always harping on about their 'bad habit' and telling them what to do. The simple fact is though that smokers are affecting the health of non-smokers as well as their own. People die each year just because they have breathed other peoples smoke and that is something we really should be taking seriously. In my opinion an outright ban on smoking in public places is the only way forward."

Just curious what everyone's thoughts on this is.

I don't smoke, never have, never will... all though some have said it would calm me down at times.

But I totally agree with banning it at all public places. Especially restaurants, sports events, and parks. Nothing is worse than not being a smoker and being slowly killed by those who do. However, I'm sure if something like this were passed.... MANY peopel would break that law regardless. Like... prohibition.

To some extent, I agree. But the chances of this ever happening, are slim to none. I mean would that mean that people are onl aloud to smoke in there homes? It seems to me like they have sectioned smokers off from the general public (events & resturants) just fine. Just my thoughts.

Ah. Come into New York. Already done. New York has banned smoking in all public buildings... schools, malls, bars,... all that stuff. Anyone that wants to smoke has to be 50ft from any building. I love the law, and am glad because they are really enforcing it... $50 fine every time you don't comply. Same thing with the cell phone law, I'm glad they enforce it.

Theres nothing worse than trying to walk down the street, smoking my cigerette, minding my own buisness when some drunk walks out of a bar or club smelling like alchohol, yelling, screaming and singing like an idiot. I need my cigerette to calm me down so I don't go off and slug him.

You do have a choice how you come home, the decision starts off by where you go that night.

Hey man, all seriousness I can see your point. Since the majority of people in bars seem to smoke, even the non smokers after a few drinks in 'em, I think they should section it off for the smokers, at least have like a seperate lounge area....Ban it...NO.....Respect others....yes...

Oh yeah, I am a born again smoker

Same thing down here in Savannah. It's been in Florida for several months now and the bill just passed August 1st to ban smoking in restaurants, hospitals and malls. For some places, it has done wonders for our business even though the bar regulars are completely pissed off that they can't have a smoke with their beer unless they go out to the patio.

I totally agree. Here in Ontario, most public places are infact smoke free. Most restaurants etc are non smoking, and some places have seperate enclosed smoking rooms.

I think it's great, because smoking is one of the most disgusting habits. I think less of people who smoke because it's stupid, disgusting and most importantly unhealthy.

Plus I find most smokers to be very ignorant when it comes to how, where, and when they smoke.

Actually, smoking in general should be banned. If you can't tell,I'm very against smoking and come from a family where my parents both smoked, but my mom quit several years ago, while my dad continues to be a compulsive chain smoker. I used to,and still do get very sick when I'm around smokers. I get migraines and stomach pains and my eyes burn. Maybe I'm just sensitive to it,or maybe it's just a f*cking disgusting activity.

I had someone do that to me once while waiting for the Metra train. They were in the little hut and I walked far enough away from it where the smoke shouldnt have bothered them, they made a few comments I politely went further away. They got louder. So I figured that they thought they could keep going because they got to me so I sat in the little hut and puffed away. Not another word came out of thier mouths.

Smoking isnt a god given right, and i believe that you should respect people who can't stand it. But smokers are people too and I know speaking for myself, if you ask nicely I'll move.

For you people that [censored] and whine just cause you found another reason too, come see me...
