BP.... you bastids are the most expensive. I think "BP" knows more than we think...
On target here, a CNN rep said a while back that the more we [censored] about prices, the more they would drop..... mmkay, waiting for that drop.
Like most have said, if the price of Premium hit 5 bukcs a gallon, well... yeah, thats expensive, but what do you do? . You need gas like you need water (in my world and many others).

Is it the whole panic stricken American investor that is driving the price of oil futures up, which is bringing the price of gas up??? Or is it really OPEC. For once I am NOT looking for politics thrown into the arguement, I think gas prices are outragous enough without throwing politics in the mess...
Oh and I am glad I got my bike with 40+mpg...
EDIT: I guess everyone doesnt know why they are so high... I want to know. I have heard all the news reports about it, but I don't believe what I hear all the time...
some pipe lines are shut down across the south becuase there is no power, but thats all I have heard that and there has been basically no production out of the gulf for the last 3-4 days, and evacuating major cities requires lots of gas for cars getting out of there as well

they will only get worse because of the above conditions. once repairs are made to the damaged pipelines out of the gulf area they may go down a bit, but in general prices will most likely steadily rise until the other issues are resolved as well.

Issues like what? the lack of refineries??? If this is the main part of the problem, which it seems to be acording to this article: Linky Why isnt the government stepping in and giving money to refineries to build new ones or to get their old ones up to production levels that will support us?

Nice nutshell. I'd like to also add in their the general cost of living increase/inflation as well. For those who say, why won't it be $0.89/ gal liek it used to be... well, Footlongs at subway used to be 2.49 on Thursdays... but that ain't coming back. As time goes on, things increase in cost. Factor out Katrina, war, lack of supply... I'd say Gas would be about $1.60 or so/ gallon compared to how prices of other "high demand" items have increased in the last 10 years.
If gold were to decrease in availablilty.. wouldn't it's price increase? If a CSVT decreased in avai... bad example. You get my drift.

i have three little letters for you, e.p.a. they throw a hissy fit anytime we want to get a new refinery going. tapping the strategic reserves is not going to solve the problem. what we have here is a refining and distribution problem.
gas prices went up here too yesteday, but not that bad. maybe 5-10 cents. i was paying just under $3/gal and now i am paying just over $3/gal

We have a winner; refining capacity has been an issue FAR longer than most any other.
